Our Commitment

Athletes of Life is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible digital experience for athletes, parents, guardians, and community members, including people with disabilities.

We are working to improve the usability and accessibility of athletesoflife.org and the services that link to this statement. Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, and we expect to continue testing, correcting, and improving the experience as the website and our programs evolve.

1. Our Accessibility Goal

Athletes of Life uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as an accessibility goal and reference for improvement.

This statement does not claim that every page, feature, document, embedded tool, or third-party service currently conforms fully to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. A formal conformance claim should be made only after complete technical and manual evaluation of all relevant page variations and functionality.

2. Accessibility Measures

We aim to support accessibility through measures such as:

  • clear and consistent navigation;
  • logical page headings and content structure;
  • keyboard-accessible links, buttons, forms, menus, and interactive controls;
  • visible keyboard focus indicators;
  • sufficient color contrast;
  • readable text sizing and spacing;
  • responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices;
  • descriptive page titles and link text;
  • text alternatives for meaningful images;
  • labels, instructions, and error messages for form fields;
  • captions, transcripts, or other alternatives for important audio and video content when reasonably available;
  • reduced reliance on color alone to communicate meaning;
  • avoidance of unnecessary flashing or motion;
  • compatibility improvements for common browsers and assistive technologies.

3. Forms and Scheduling

Athletes of Life uses forms to receive program inquiries, trial requests, private-training interest, Homeschool interest, Find Her Path information, and College Pathway Fit Call requests.

We aim for these forms to include:

  • programmatically associated labels;
  • clear required-field indicators;
  • understandable instructions;
  • accessible validation and error identification;
  • keyboard-operable controls;
  • logical focus order;
  • sufficient time to complete the form;
  • confirmation of a successful submission.

Some scheduling functionality may be provided by Calendly or another third-party service. If an embedded scheduler creates an accessibility barrier, users may open the scheduling service directly or contact Athletes of Life for assistance.

4. Third-Party Content and Services

The website may include or link to third-party tools and content, such as:

  • Calendly scheduling;
  • Google Maps;
  • YouTube;
  • TikTok, Instagram, and other social platforms;
  • externally hosted academic or program resources.

Athletes of Life does not control every accessibility feature of independent third-party services. We will try to provide a reasonable alternative when a third-party tool prevents someone from obtaining information or completing an important action.

5. Documents and Media

We aim to make important public documents and media reasonably accessible. This may include:

  • using real text rather than text embedded only in images;
  • organizing documents with headings and readable structure;
  • adding meaningful alternative text to images;
  • providing captions for prerecorded video with meaningful speech;
  • providing transcripts or summaries when appropriate;
  • avoiding scanned image-only documents when an accessible format can be provided.

Some older, third-party, or provisional documents may not yet be fully accessible. Contact us if you need information in another format.

6. Physical Programs and Reasonable Assistance

This statement primarily concerns digital accessibility. Athletes of Life also wants families to be able to ask about reasonable access needs relating to an in-person training session, meeting, or program.

Before participation, please contact us to discuss a relevant disability, communication need, or requested accommodation. We will review requests individually in light of the athlete's needs, the nature of the activity, safety, available resources, and applicable law.

Nothing on the website should be interpreted as a medical assessment or a guarantee that every requested modification is safe, appropriate, or available.

7. Known Limitations and Ongoing Work

The website is actively evolving. Potential limitations may include:

  • embedded third-party scheduling or map experiences;
  • older or externally hosted video without complete captions;
  • provisional PDF or downloadable documents;
  • images that require improved alternative text;
  • focus, error, or screen-reader behavior in custom form controls;
  • visual content generated or uploaded before accessibility review.

We are working to identify and correct barriers in order of user impact and business importance. Listing a potential limitation does not mean that every listed problem is currently present on every page.

8. Requesting Assistance or an Alternative Format

If you cannot access content, complete a form, schedule a call, or use a feature, contact us. We can work with you to provide the information or complete the requested interaction through a reasonable alternative method.

When contacting us, please include:

  • the page address or name of the content;
  • a description of the barrier;
  • the browser, device, or assistive technology used, if you are comfortable sharing it;
  • the preferred way for us to respond;
  • the format or assistance requested.

Do not send medical records or highly sensitive disability documentation by ordinary email unless we specifically provide an approved method.

9. Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback about the accessibility of Athletes of Life.

Need help accessing something?

Tell us what you were trying to access, and we will work with you on a reasonable alternative.

Subject line: Accessibility Request

Contact page: athletesoflife.org/contact

We will make reasonable efforts to acknowledge the request and evaluate the barrier. Response and remediation times may depend on the complexity of the issue, third-party involvement, and the format requested.

10. No Retaliation

Athletes of Life will not intentionally deny service or retaliate against a person merely for requesting accessibility assistance, reporting a barrier, or asking for information in another reasonable format.

11. Compatibility

The website is intended to work with current versions of commonly used browsers and devices. Accessibility may be reduced when using an outdated browser, unsupported operating system, disabled browser features, or a third-party extension that changes page behavior.

This does not eliminate our responsibility to investigate an accessibility barrier reported by a user.

12. Changes to This Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as the website, technology, testing, and accessibility practices change. The current version will display a revised "Last updated" date.
